Water Treatment

Our mission is to deliver safe, reliable, affordable water around the clock. We operate advanced water treatment facilities that process Rocky Mountain snowmelt before it goes to homes and businesses. Once water leaves Greeley's six reservoirs, it is piped directly to nearby Bellvue or Boyd Lake Water Treatment Plant. Greeley uses the latest technologies and practices at its two treatment plants to ensure the water we deliver meets all drinking water standards.

The Bellvue Water Treatment PlantBellvue Treatment Plant

Located at the mouth of the Poudre Canyon, this plant operates throughout the year as Greeley's primary water treatment facility. It can treat 35 million gallons of water per day. The plant was originally built in 1907 and has received many upgrades throughout the decades. The latest major upgrade was completed in May 2020 that replaced treatment facilities for 20 million gallons per day.

The Boyd Lake Water Treatment Plant

Boyd Treatment facility

The Boyd Lake Plant is located in Loveland and can treat up to 38 million gallons of water per day from Boyd Lake and Lake Loveland.

This plant is operated primarily during the lawn-watering season and is shut down for winter maintenance when demand is low. It supplements the Bellvue Plant during emergencies or when there is a high-water demand. Built in 1964, the plant last received upgrades in 2022 to install a new chemical building and improve treatment processes. Additional upgrades are on-going and when completed will allow Greeley to run the plant year-round if needed in emergencies.
