Conservation Education Opportunities

Education is a crucial part of every water conservation program. Greeley firmly believes that face-to-face contact is the most effective means of sharing about conservation, which is why our staff strives to meet with as many citizens as possible. Check out our opportunities below.

Landscape Lectures Landscape Professional Certification Incentives

We also offer:

  • Speakers Bureau: Speakers and presentation for classrooms, civic clubs, and other groups by request. We tailor topics to a specific time, age group, state standards, interest, or concern. Please get in touch with us at 970-350-9811 or conserve@greeleygov.com with your request
  • Teacher Training: In conjunction with other water and conservation organizations, Greeley sponsors training programs on water and conservation issues for local teachers. Confluence Institute is a multi-day interactive training with tours to help teachers to bring water back to the classroom.
  • Caring For Our Watersheds, an educational program sponsored by the Poudre Learning Center, that weaves together the combined strengths of industry, environmental organizations, and communities to engage high school students in preserving and improving their local watersheds. The City of Greeley supports the Colorado Contest, open to students who live in Colorado borders within the Cache la Poudre River Watershed and Big Thompson Watershed. We provide information and resources to help students implement their projects.
  • Tour the garden: Literature and tours of the Greeley’s Waterwise Demonstration Garden provide the tools and resources to help you implement water-wise landscaping principles and reduce outdoor water use.
  • Tour the treatment plants: Some of Greeley's facilities are out of town, including Bellvue Water Treatment Plant in Bellvue, CO, and Boyd Lake Water Treatment Plant in Loveland, CO. Greeley's WasteWater Plant.  In addition, the Greeley History Museum has a permanent exhibit on Greeley's water history.

Please reach out to 970-350-9811 or water@greeleygov.com for general water information, or conserve@greeleygov.com for conservation related topics.
