Lawn Installation and Variances
A lawn, seed, sod, or overseeding variance is required for installation,
replacement, patching or renovation of any lawn area 250 square feet or more. There is no fee for a variance.
Since over half of the water used is by customers to water lawns and landscaping, Greeley requires lawn watering variances to establish water-wise lawns and protect your investment. Because of the low organic matter in Greeley's
soil, we require the addition of compost that will result in a healthier and more drought-tolerant turf. The addition of compost will help you save up to 30% more water during the establishment period.
To apply, the homeowner or landscape installer must bring or mail the following items to our office or apply online. The following items must be brought into the office or uploaded online:
- an original receipt/invoice for seed or sod
- an original receipt/invoice for compost (not topsoil, amended topsoil, or fertilizer)
- a photo of rototilling at the site or receipt of tiller purchase/rental
